Social Practice > Memory Boxes (1994 - 1999)

Memory Boxes: Stories from New Denver is a community-based project created collaboratively with Japanese Canadian elders who endured incarceration during World War II. The project traveled to schools and community groups across Canada and the US. The project is in the permanent collection of the Nikkei National Museum, Burnaby, BC (formerly the Japanese Canadian National Museum). Reports and oral histories are also housed permanently at resource centers at the Nikkei Internment Memorial Center; the Japanese American National Museum; and the Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience.
